A BIG ELVIS HAPPENING in Holland, May 2nd 2010

On May 2nd, 2010, “The Original Elvis Tribute” will return to Holland for a show at the Effenaar in Eindhoven, one of Holland’s leading concert venues. The show is being organized by the biggest Elvis fanclub in Holland, “Elvis For Everyone”, who are celebrating their 15th anniversary this year. Fanclub president Constatijn Zantingh is only 33 years old, making him one of the youngest Elvis fanclub-presidents worldwide.

Constatijn is always looking for new and innovative ways to promote Elvis for a younger audience, and it seems that this is working well for him: “The magazine is getting new members all the time. Our conventions are well attended. Our books are quite popular; the ‘Images’ book was sold out within a matter of months. Volume 2 of that book has just come out”, says Constatijn, who is very excited about the Eindhoven show: “We first booked that show last year, and it was just tremendous. It’s a very special show, and Duke Bardwell and Michael Jarrett really know how to connect with an audience. Ticketsales for the concert in Eindhoven are quite strong already now, so I think it’s going to be a fantastic day”.

We'll have more information on this special Elvis Evening by our fanclub soon. But if you're into Elvis, you'll know that June 26th is a special day: Elvis gave his last concert that night, it was the day Vernon died and Colonel's birthday.

Jerry Schilling greets members of ElvisMatters

Jerry Schilling, long time friend of Elvis (and one of the few true friends that were asked by Vernon to be a pal bearer on August 18th, 1977), author, producer and business advisor, arrived in Germany yesterday for the Elvis Weekend in the city of Bischofsgrün. While most visitors arrive tonight, Jerry had his hands full with German media that stood in line, waiting for an interview. Jerry's a very friendly guy, very 'down to earth' and honest in his opinions. He also asked us to convey his best wishes to all members of ElvisMatters.

Elvis In Monnickendam

Next month a free Elvis project will take place in Monnickendam, The Netherlands.

From April 7 until April 29 there will be a photo exhibition "The King Lives".

Furthermore there will be a reading by singer/ songwriter Jan Rot, a movie evening, disco and church service by Fred Omvlee.

Sam Thompson to visit Germany

Former body guard and aid Sam Thompson will be the next Special Guest at the Elvis Weekend in Bischofsgrün (Germany).

Long time Elvis fan and ElvisMatters member Markus Henfling has put together a great weekend with live shows and concerts, an exhibition and a Q&A with Sam.

ElvisMatters will be present too with a booth and shop. Yesterday, when the program for the Elvis Weekend Nov 12-14 at the luxurious Kaisersalm Hotel was announced, Markus had already sold 42 tickets. Speaking of a success! Well done, Markus! Elvis would be proud.

Vienna Concerts without Myrna

Dennis Jale will be the host of tonights and tomorrows concerts in the Vienna Metropole.

On stage are the TCB Band (James, Glen D, Ronnie, Jerry), guest speaker Joe Guercio and The Sweet Inspirations.

There will be a big gap on stage since we all know Myrna is still in the hospital. The last update is that she will stay in bed untill she is fully recovered to get on the plane to leave home for LA.

The King Lives in libary Monnickendam

The photo expo ‘The King Lives’ opened in the library of Monnicendam (Nl). Photographer Paul van Riel shows the pictures he has made in Tupelo and Memphis where he was looking for the trails that Elvis has left. The opening was done by model Liz in a creation of designer Amanda Meijer, called ‘The Single Lady’. The project ‘Elvis in Monnickendam’ will celebrate its highlight from April 22-25 with an Elvis lecture, Elvis Disco, Elvis carillon concert, Choir concert and gospel service.
